Beginning May 1, the Golden Cycling Club's kid's learn to ride program is back!

This year, with ongoing COVID-19 health guidelines, things will look a little different, but that doesn't mean it is any less fun.

Aimed at riders of all ages and levels, these rides are designed to help teach new skills, improve on what you've already learned or help progress a technique. Build your confidence and get even better at what you love doing - riding your bike!

Each Saturday for the next four weeks, a new checkpoint course will be set up to be ridden that week. There will be different courses for different rider levels, but all will be working on the same skill.

Week 1 is GEARS! Maybe you're learning how to shift properly, or you want to learn how to shift more smoothly. It doesn't matter, come out and test the course, progress your abilities.

Checkpoint 1 is at Keith King Memorial Park pavillion (washrooms). Read the tips posted and practice those skills as you ride to Checkpoint 2.

Continue this process for 4 to 5 checkpoints along the course (this will vary week to week).

Beginner course is ~ 6 km. Intermediate to advanced courses are ~ 10 km.

Each week will have a new, fun challenge to win prizes. You must be a cycling club member to win a prize, so make sure you have your 2021 membership today!

Wear your helmet, make sure your bike is ready to ride, and make sure to follow all COVID-19 health guidelines at all times!
