Learn to Ride Youth Development Camp 2026
Keith King Memorial Sports Field
18-04-2026 09:30 – 09-05-2026 11:30
Learn to Ride is a youth mountain bike development program for kids Grades 1 through 7, ages 6 to 12, designed to teach the fundamentals of mountain bike trail riding in a safe, fun, and controlled environment. It is designed for all abilities and kids will be grouped according to their skill level. Learn to Ride starts on April 18th, and will consist of skill-based lessons once a week on Saturday mornings from 9:30 to 11:30 for 4 weeks.   Learn to Ride is $75 per child, which includes a Golden Cycling Club Junior membership and a custom  jersey. Registration is limited to 140 kids.   In order to ensure we have a safe and successful camp, we would like to provide you with some information that we would like you to discuss with your child.  Please review the following details so that your son or daughter is ready to ride. Rider registration – Please ensure you have completed and submitted the online registration and waiver forms for the camp, and also have completed the Golden Cycling Club membership forms by April 13th or your child will not be able to ride.  There is no on the day registration. This will ensure we have all the required information to group kids for maximum fun and ensure we have relevant info to deal with any medical concerns if they should arise.      Rider Bike Check – The Bike Check is meant to be a preventative inspection done to ensure your child’s bike is in good working order prior to the camp starting. If you are unsure about any aspect of your child’s bike please take to your local bike shop and have the mechanic have a look. It is the FULL responsibility of each rider/parent to ensure that their bicycle is properly maintained and safe.  The instructors will perform a brief safety check prior to the first session at which time if your child’s bike is unsafe, they will not be allowed to ride until fixed.  The riders will learn how to perform their own safety check and identify any problems in following sessions, Session Start Date – The 2026 camp is scheduled to begin on April 26th at 9:30am at the Keith King soccer fields and run until 11:30 am. it will run for 4 Saturday mornings through to May 9th. Clothing/Gear/Helmet – Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather (i.e. rain, cold, hot), as well as wearing closed-toed shoes.  All riders must have a properly fitting helmet that is adjustable around the CROWN of the child's head (this applies to all helmets other than full face helmets). A hydration source is STRONGLY recommended   Rider Check In/Name Tags – At the start of EACH session, each rider will check in at a designated area where they will receive a coloured name tag and be assigned to their skill level group identified by a coloured bib worn by the instructors. All riders must sign out after each session, to allow us to ensure all riders have returned from the daily trail ride. IMPORTANT: SIGNING THE WAIVER IS MANDATORY! PLEASE COMPLETE THE WAIVER BELOW BEFORE COMPLETING YOUR REGISTRATION. https://waiver.smartwaiver.com/e/yMgoSffiMqh7JgQFBjZhG6/web/ No riders will be allowed to participate without a signed waiver.

Schach Therapy 2026 - Team Relay Event and Evening Music @ Golden Skybridge
Mount 7
10:00 – 16:00
Here we go... Round three of Schach Therapy!  Gather some friends, community members, or your co-workers and take on the full climb and descent of Mount 7 as a team of 2, 3, or 4. Remember, E-bikes and runners are included, too! This year, we are collaborating with the Golden Skybridge for an evening of music and dancing by Red Haven. Join us overlooking the Columbia Valley for a fabulous evening of good beats and community.   Red Haven is a raucous blend of jazz, roots, and soul from Vancouver, BC, known for their infectious, high-energy performances that encourage the audience to let loose and dance. https://www.redhavenmusic.ca/epk When we move together, we ignite connection and spark a sense of belonging where joy can thrive. Schach Therapy is rooted in community connection and aims to raise awareness around mental health and collective healing. All proceeds go to The Golden Family Center and fund the Drop-in: Single Session Support.  Schach Therapy Tickets: $35 per rider. Music tickets: $15 in advance or $20 cash only at the door.   The Team Relay Breakdown Teams of 2, 3, or 4, climbing and descending Mount 7.  The climb starts at the Reflection Lake parking lot and takes the Schacher Trail to the launch site, then descends the route of your choice.  The Climb: The Schacher 15km The Schacher trail was completed in 2018, providing a single-track trail from town to the Mount 7 launch site.  Local family man Sean Schacher was the inspiration for this trail, and it was the drive of local family man/good-guy-with-superhero-powers Jeremy Harris who made it happen. Both of these 2 local riders now ride along in spirit with you on this ride. Teams can only switch riders/runners out at specific locations: the road crossing at 5.5k, 10k, and the launch. Runners are only allowed to take uphill legs. If one person on your team is on an e-bike, please sign up for the e-bike category.  Leg #1 - 6.0km +538m - Bowle-Evan road - Woodlot ride trail - Schacher to just above the 5km on the Bowle-Evan road.   Leg #2 - 6.3k +500m - Schacher to 10k trail junction.    Leg #3 - 3km +306m - Schacher to launch The Descent:  Choose Your Adventure From the launch site to the Reflection Lake parking lot. All Riders MUST pass through the checkpoint at 5k, the only location for a rider switch and finish on 5k to the finish at Reflection Lake parking lot. No descending the Schacher, except the section from Summit connection to B52. (ex. if you are taking the summit down to the summit connect to B52 to 5k) It is required for teams to submit their descent route during event plate pickup. We recommend carpooling to shuttle riders to their starting points and ideally having the ascenders drive the vehicles back down to Reflection Lake for the finish.  All teams must check in when all team members are back at the Reflection Lake Parking lot.  To participate, individuals must be at least 12 years old. Or accompanied by an adult at all times  While a GCC membership isn't required, we strongly recommend supporting the club and joining. Get your Golden Cycling Club Membership by clicking here. Every participant must sign the GCC Waiver. GCC Waiver Donations are welcome. To donate to the Golden Family Center, click here. Start getting your teams together!

Phat Burner Fat Bike Race 2026
Reflection Lake
11:00 – 13:00
Join us for the Phat Burner Fat Bike Race! The Phat Burner is back for its fourth year and will take advantage of our flowy, freshly groomed fat biking trails in the Golden area.  Course Confirmed! The course will take place in Mountain Shadows and will be a fast, flowy, 10k with a bunch of frosty friends. Trails are currently riding perfectly. Rather than race our way up the Mount 7 road, we'll do a neutral take off from the Reflection Lake parking lot up to the top of the Schacher cutblock. Get to know your fellow racers as this will be a social start to the ride. From the top, we'll stagger our starts and race a fast line down Schacher and Premature before hitting the XC portion through Mountain Shadows. Expect some fun challenges along the way to help warm those fingers.  Groomers are working on Magic Dragon so you can be the first one through on the newly groomed trail. From there, Huff and Puff, Chute the Duck, and get sendy on another newly groomed trail -- Extra Credit -- to the bottom.  https://www.trailforks.com/route/phat-burner-2026-route/ Expect a little bit of everything, including some enduro-style sections. Race for the podium, or challenge yourself with a group of like-minded weirdos. Maximum 50 Riders.

Last year's event was such a resounding success we thought why not do another.    Coming to you from Small Town Race Series x Golden Cycling Club!  Sign up as a biker, as a runner, or sign up as EITHER! This will help ensure we have balanced numbers for teams.    This year, we are supporting the BC Special Olympics with proceeds from the event! Local athletes will be out there racing and volunteering, so come and join in on the fun and feel free to volunteer if you're not keen on the race part.    What's a Duathlon you ask??! It's a combined sport of running and biking. This will be a wee bit different than a regular Duathlon though. You will be randomly assigned a partner. This will be a great opportunity to meet new people and share the trails in a radical new way. And this year, participants will be doing multiple laps! The team with the most laps at the end, wins. It's simple... It'll be so much fun and there will be plenty of random prizing! Come on out and support Golden's special Olympics athletes!    RUN ROUTE: https://www.strava.com/routes/3383606704373119512 BIKE ROUTE https://www.trailforks.com/route/gcc-strs-2025-duathlon/   This event is limited to 50 teams so please sign up in advance!  Volunteers are the backbone of these events and can also register below.   This race is open to Members and Non-Members of the GCC.  Invite all your friends, runners and bikers alike!   If you would like to register to be a GCC member, you can purchase your membership by clicking here.

18:00 – 20:00
Like the Skills Park? Like to jump? Like to eat burgers? Like to practice your "Roll Downs"? Come join us!   Get ready for an evening of trail love and bike skills at the Keith King Skills Park! We'll start with a 1-hour weed pull to help maintain and care for our riding space — a great way to give back to the skills park we love. Please try to make it for this portion of the event. We need all the help we can get! After the clean-up, we’ll roll into a coached skills session focused on “Roll Downs” — a key skill for riding over rocks, roots, and steeper features with control. This session is ideal for experienced beginners to intermediate riders who are looking to refine their technique and build a strong foundation to progress their riding. The skill session will be led by our board member, Meagan, who is certified with PMBIA & GSMBC and coaches with Shred Sisters.  Already conquered your roll down technique? Skip the skills session and join in on a Jump Jam and BBQ.   What to bring:  - Gloves for the weed pull - Water - Your bike & helmet - A positive attitude! Let’s get our hands dirty, learn some new skills, and send it together! Register here, or just show up! Share with your friends and see you soon :)
