Join the GCC 30x30 challenge! Kick into gear this May by riding any bike for 30 minutes for 30 days. Start your Golden 24 or Furious 5 training early, or reduce your carbon footprint by riding to school or work. This challenge is open to all riders, any age, any experience level, and whatever bike you want to ride.  HOW IT WORKS Get your Golden Cycling Club Membership! You need to be a Golden Cycling Club member to participate. Register here for the 30 Day Challenge by clicking 'Get Tickets'. Don't worry, 'tickets' are free! Choose a bike to pedal for a minimum of 30 minutes a day, every day, for the month of May. Ride your mountain bike through Mountain Shadows, road bike to Nicholson, take your cruiser bike to the grocery store, or take a spin on the trainer — if it has pedals that make a wheel move, it counts! And if you miss ONE day, that’s ok because there are 31 days in May, you lucky duck. The 30 minutes can be done all at once or in smaller amounts throughout the day, but the total for the day needs to add up to 30 minutes or more. Enter your name, date and ride of choice into the daily tracker here: https://forms.gle/TnT7vsU9JkmrxyYg7 This event is based on the honour system – nobody will be checking your Strava, but you’ll know in your heart what’s true. Learn to Ride is a youth mountain bike development program for kids Grades 1 through 7, ages 6 to 12, designed to teach the fundamentals of mountain bike trail riding in a safe, fun, and controlled environment. It is designed for all abilities and kids will be grouped according to their skill level. Learn to Ride starts on April 22nd, and will consist of skill-based lessons once a week on Saturday mornings from 9:30 to 11:30 for 4 weeks.   Learn to Ride is $75 per child, which includes a Golden Cycling Club Junior membership and a custom Sombrio ride jersey. Registration is limited to 150 kids.   In order to ensure we have a safe and successful camp, we would like to provide you with some information that we would like you to discuss with your child.  Please review the following details so that your son or daughter is ready to ride. Rider registration – Please ensure you have completed and submitted the online registration and waiver forms for the camp, and also have completed the Golden Cycling Club membership forms by April 16th or your child will not be able to ride.  There is no on the day registration This will ensure we have all the required information to group kids for maximum fun and ensure we have relevant info to deal with any medical concerns if they should arise.      Rider Bike Check – The Bike Check is meant to be a preventative inspection done to ensure your child’s bike is in good working order prior to the camp starting. If you are unsure about any aspect of your child’s bike please take to your local bike shop and have the mechanic have a look. Golden Cycling Club members are eligible for a 10% discount on parts and labour at local bike stores. It is the FULL responsibility of each rider/parent to ensure that their bicycle is properly maintained and safe.  The instructors will perform a brief safety check prior to the first session at which time if your child’s bike is unsafe, they will not be allowed to ride until fixed.  The riders will learn how to perform their own safety check and identify any problems in following sessions, Session Start Date – The 2023 camp is scheduled to begin on April 22rd at 9:30am at the Keith King soccer fields and run until 11:30 am. it will run for 4 Saturday mornings through to May 13th. Clothing/Gear/Helmet – Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather (i.e. rain, cold, hot), as well as wearing closed-toed shoes.  All riders must have a properly fitting helmet that is adjustable around the CROWN of the child's head (this applies to all helmets other than full face helmets). A hydration source is STRONGLY recommended   Rider Check In/Name Tags – At the start of EACH session, each rider will check in at a designated area where they will receive a coloured name tag and be assigned to their skill level group identified by a coloured bib worn by the instructors. All riders must sign out after each session, to allow us to ensure all riders have returned from the daily trail ride. IMPORTANT: Once you've completed your registration, if you haven't already done so, you will receive an email asking you to activate your Golden Cycling Club account. Once you have completed this, visit the Membership Page of the Golden Cycling Club and select the 'Junior Learn to Ride Membership' and complete this process to sign the waiver. You may also complete the waiver by printing it out and signing the waiver, scanning it, and emailing it to skills@goldencyclingclub.com. No riders will be allowed to participate without a signed waiver.

GCC Movie Night
Kicking Horse Movies + Ice Cream
19:30 – 21:30
Get stoked for the 2023 season with another Golden Cycling Club movie night!  Movies: Chasing Kasper (12 min) A bicycle, in its essence, is a way from one place to another. But sometimes it’s also a way through something. For Tessa Treadway and her nine-year-old son, Kasper, mountain biking has soothed the grief from losing husband and father, professional skier Dave Treadway, to a 2019 backcountry-skiing accident. For Kasper, it’s a hyper focused outlet for his errant energy. For Tessa it’s an escape from the chaos of single motherhood, as she discovers the surprise gift of joy that flows from chasing him. Dirt Magic (20 min) Patagonia Films presents “Dirt Magic,” a Teton Gravity Research and Freehub Magazine film documenting Downieville, CA’s journey from dying mining town to mountain-bike mecca. Inspired by a desire to save their home trails, shaped by a grassroot organization’s unintentional stewardship, and fueled by the sport’s rowdiest festival, Downieville’s newest dirt miners are using that reputation to create a model community for struggling mountain towns across the globe—and it all started with a van, a chainsaw, and a few maxed-out credit cards. Life Cycles (45 min) Life Cycles is a true adventure film. Over 5 years in the making, and using the bicycle as the vehicle, Life Cycles takes you on a journey through nature's most beautiful, dramatic, and sometimes unforgiving landscapes. Doors open at 7; Movies start at 7:30 Cash at the door

Golden Cycling Club Members Only!                                                                      Brayden Bringhurst sets out to climb every inch of mountain biking's iconic trail: "The Whole Enchilada."  Husband. Father. Son. Friend. Professional mountain biker and filmmaker.  From a young age, Braydon has loved the process of figuring out a challenge and proving to himself he can accomplish what he sets out to do.  Inspired by his family and friends, many of whom are dealing with figurative mountains, in life both big and small, Braydon wanted to show the process of making it up what many would say is an unfathomable climb. Having worked closely with Dr. Craig Manning, a renowned performance psych, throughout his collegiate athletic and academic career, Braydon learned something he wanted to share with others: It's just as much about the mental strength as it is the physical.   With his wife and friends rallying behind him, and putting forth great efforts, we present to you '8600 FT.'
